We received our monthly update on Julia. She is so precious! I hope a family somewhere finds her file and adopts her soon. She sounds like such a precious little girl. We are getting a little package ready to send her for Christmas. What a cutie she is. Below you will find our update.
If you feel God leading you you to do something for a child that is in need please consider sponsoring a child from here. They have such a wonderful program. You can choose the child you would like to sponsor.
On another note, I don't know how much time I will have time to sew as this is a very busy month for everyone. I have received a few emails I haven't had time to answer please be patient with me. We just celebrated Ana Claire's birthday and one of our son's is wrestling and it takes up alot of our time.

Julia is 4 Years 10 Months Old.

Julia is a nice and intelligent girl. As she is getting older, she's becoming a little more reserved and shy. During the weekend, our older children come home. Julia used to rush to them for hugs when they opened the door. Now she just smiles broadly when they open the door, walks over and says, "I missed you very much." After that, her brother picks her up and gives her a big hug. Sometimes she stays home and plays with her foster dad when I go out to run errands. She has learned more English words at the foster home… she learned a lot of words for food, like "egg, dumpling, noodle, and rice." She is such a fast learner! A few days ago, she went to a tea party at one of the staff member's home. She was so excited to get dressed up and go to the party, but she was afraid the foster home staff would forget to pick her up! She was so anxious and worried that she'd miss it. In the end, she had a great time!

Handmade flower on the shirt. Stem and leaves are hand embroidered. I also made a flower barrette to match. The flower on the shirt I attached to a brioche pin so it is removable for easy wash. Red Elephant Shirt and Twirl Skirt with a handmade flower barrette.

I haven't posted here in a while so I thought I would show you somethings I have been working on. I was out of commission for a little bit. Ana Claire pulled my sewing machine off the table and broke it. UGH! It is fixed now. YIPPEE!

I had a couple of special orders that I just finished with. I am very pleased with the way they turned out. What do you think? I do have the material to make 2 outfits like the flower shirt.

I thought I would order some more of the red material on Monday if anyone was interested. I love the way this twirl skirt turned out.

Update on our Sponsored Child

Julia

I love getting updates on her. She is such a little cutie.

Below is what our update said. It was written by her foster mother.

Julia, who wears her hair in bouncy pig-tails, has lived with our family for four months. She is so happy here, and she has blossomed very much. She is a very special girl. She has an intelligent mind and loves hands-on activities. I recently gave her a 100 piece puzzle to complete, which was very difficult. Julia was able to finish with a little help from me. After finishing the puzzle once, she turned it over and tried again. She can now do it within 30 minutes! On a recent field trip to a local restaurant, Julia ate so much that at the end of the meal, she patted her full belly and loudly announced to everyone at the table, "I think I'm going to explode!" We all laughed very much. During the National Day, a lot of family came to visit her home. Julia loves an audience and entertained everyone with her jokes and songs. Everyone says that Julia is a smart and lovely little girl! This is true and we love her very much!

I would love to bring her home, but DH says no. So I pray that her forever family finds her. She sounds like she is so full of life. She is a part of my inspiration to sew. If you have ever considered sponsoring a child you may want to visit their website here.

Sewing for a Cause

When I set up this sewing blog I wanted to sew for a cause. I have donated things for different auctions and fundraisers, but my heart yearned to do more. I would love to bring home another little one, but my dear husband says our family is complete. I have prayed about what I can do and God lead me to sponsoring a child. So each month I will use part of the proceeds from my sewing to sponsor Julia. A blogger friend received her referral and her daughter was being cared for through New Day Foster Home. I went to their website and was looking at all the children. There were several that yanked at my heart strings. Then I saw Julia. I fell in love with her. If you go to their website, you can go to their scrapbook link and see photos and videos of the children cared for in their program. She is such a precious little girl. For a more conservative look it is shown with a solid pink bow. The waist is 20" round and will stretch easily to 22". The length is 13".

Included with this tutu is both ribbons so you can change the look and the brown tank trimmed in pink. It is a 4t. I have embellished the tank with a little tulle bow. It is removable for washing. Above you can see the tank with and without the tulle bow. If you prefer, I can monogram the tank with your daughter's first initial after purchase. This would make a great costume for Halloween or an addition to your little ones dress up clothes.

It is a pretty turquoise baby doll top with stripes and an Asian flare.
It is a 3t. The skirt waist is 20" round and measures approximately 14 1/2" in length. The ribbon flower embellishment on the top is removeable for washing. Any little girl will have fun twirling around with this on.

Raising Money for Chinese Starfish Surgeries

Starfish Shirt
Amanda over at Chinese Starfish is raising money for several children needing surgery. I thought that I would make a starfish shirt and donate part of my sales from this shirt to Chinese Starfish.

The costs of the shirt is $18 for a children shirt and $22 for an adult shirt, $24 for a 2XL or larger.

All starfish will be appliqued on white t-shirts. This shirt would look great worn with khakis or blue jeans. The applique on the children shirt is approx 8x8 in size. The adult applique will be a little larger.

Each shirt will be unique in its own way as each starfish is uniquely cut each time.

You can choose a red, yellow, bright green, orange, bright pink, bright blue or a brown starfish.
